FAMILY FALL FEST WAS AWESOME!
Families gathered in our Parish Hall on Saturday, October 22nd for an afternoon of games, food and prizes! Some came in their favorite Halloween costumes, while others chose to have their faces painted and hair colored - what a variety of "strange looking" guests! After playing games like "Football Kick", "The Duck Pond", "Monster Races" and "Tisket-A-Tasket", we all enjoyed treats like Boo-cakes, mummy wraps, funny bones... and washed it all down with some "Swamp Juice".

Then, we gathered on the dance floor to learn how to do the "Monster Mash", and played Spider Relay, That's My Mummy and Ghost stacking. Everyone made their own buttons to wear, and enjoyed painting a "Jar O Lantern".

Thanks to everyone who helped and/or donated food, PLUS:
The Haller Family for their giant "Nose"
Reece Roberts and Angel Skaggs
Ruthie Wilder who coordinated the kitchen
Bill & Dee Lawson (our "adopted" friends)
Stacy, Megan and Maddy Wadsworth for ... everything!
Christine & Mason Thompson for helping with the games
Jerome Carver who manned the Duck Pond
Lacy Hanson who painted a LOT of faces
Janice Adkins, Beth Barnett, Margie Green, Amanda Knesal, Jessica Green, Matthew & Susan Grice, Karen Sinopoli,
Heather Riemann, Elizabeth Thigpen.

OUR FAMILY OLYMPICS WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS!
Over 25 children and countless adults "competed" in games of skill, frivolity and just plain silliness! The day was scorching, but we cooled off with water balloon games! We also enjoyed "Freckle Frenzy", "Share a Pair", "Stepping Stones" and "ShoePile Scramble"

We all joined in to videotape a "salute" to Tim Senseney, a friend of St. Mark's, who is serving our country in the Army. (This is his 4th deployment). WLOX covered it on the news, and it will be sent to Tim in a special Care package.

After that, we gathered inside for a few games of "Kitchen Golf" and "Cookie Stacking", then feasted on healthy burgers and chicken dogs, fresh fruit and veggies
and a do-it-yourself trail mix buffet!

Vacation Bible School 2011

Our children had a wonderful week, experiencing the Bible, as they learned what it was like to live when Jesus was a boy! The Parish Hall was transformed into the city of Nazareth for "Hometown Huddles" and Tribal meetings! They visited Mary's house and she shared her stories of being the Mother of God, while her "nosey neighbor" Eunice tried to convince the children otherwise (the children changed HER mind in the end!) They snacked on foods that Jesus enjoyed - breads, honey, fruit, cheeses... Then, they went to the Marketplace and worked with various crafts: basket weaving, rock quarry, primitive instruments. One day, they were visited by live animals from Nazareth, including a hedgehog, a bunny and 3 alpacas. The next, they enjoyed a demonstration of primitive instruments. Every day, they visited the Temple and learned new songs of praise. They were surprised by a visit from a "rabbi", who told them of the day that Jesus walked into the temple and taught the teachers!

On Friday, everyone enjoyed a "wedding celebration", and heard of the miracle Jesus performed turning water into wine! We decorated Hometown Nazareth with colorful tissue flowers, ate "wedding cake" and were joined by our parents and grandparents for a final wrap-up of praise and worship songs! Each child was given a basket full of the projects they participated in for the week, and a framed photo
of their visit to Nazareth.
